Graduating Students

UAMS Graduate School students who anticipate graduating should submit a graduation application form and pay the graduation fee when registering for the last semester of enrollment. Students in certificate, master’s of science, and doctor of philosophy programs must apply to graduate to receive the certificate or degree. If you apply to graduate, then need to change your expected graduation term, please email the Office of the University Registrar as soon as possible. You will need to complete another graduation application, but you do not have to pay the graduation fee again if it has already been paid.

The deadlines for each term’s application period are:

Fall – December 1st

Spring – February 16th

Summer – February 16th*

*NOTE: Summer graduates in the Graduate School should submit their applications for program completion following the Spring deadline to ensure inclusion in May graduation ceremonies, communications and publications. Summer completion applications will still be accepted through June 1, but students submitting after February 16 may not be included in graduation event ceremonies, communications or publications.

Doctoral Students. Once your dissertation has been submitted to the Library, a copy of your title and signature pages will be emailed by the Library staff to the Office of the University Registrar.

Campus Clearance Requirements.  All students should login to Workday Student to review the Student Center section for any clearance items (diploma holds) to complete.  Please click on each item for instructions on how to clear that item. The link will also include the department to contact. The Office of University Registrar will not be able to assist in clearing clearance items or diploma holds.

Commencement Ceremony

The Graduate School’s Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 6:00pm in the Stephens Spine Institute. Detailed information will be emailed to all graduates.

Participation. The UAMS Graduate School confers degrees three times during the academic year: August, December, and May. Commencement is held once a year in May. All fall 2025, spring 2026, and summer 2026 graduates are invited to participate in the ceremony. Participation is optional. To participate, you must apply to graduate in Workday and order regalia.

Regalia. All ceremony participants are required to order and pay for regalia. Please check your email for more information from the registrar on ordering regalia. There are deadlines for ordering.
