Interprofessional Education (IPE) Requirement for UAMS Graduate School Students
Interprofessional Education (IPE- http://ipe.uams.edu/ ) is an important component of our students’ academic progression. IPE allows students across campus to learn and interact together thereby increasing communication and understanding across all health and research professions. There is a formal IPE curriculum framework that is offered here at UAMS, and all of the colleges and the Graduate School participate.
The Graduate School requires all students who have entered a MS or PhD program from fall 2015 and beyond to complete the Exposure phase of the IPE curriculum (http://ipe.uams.edu/our-approach/65-2-2-2/) prior to graduation. However, students are encouraged to attend other IPE activities as well. The Exposure phase requires participation in 2 activities.
- The IPE Exposure workshop.
- A bridge activity. Activities include movies, book readings, and observations. I send out opportunities to participate in these to all graduate students as they arise throughout the year.
